Maranello, 17 April – A positive outcome for Ferrari, with a second and third place in the SGT class in Race 1 and a clean sweep of the top three places in Race 2 in the opening round of the 13th running of the Spanish GT Championship. The first round of the year took place at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit and in the fifty minutes of Race 1 this morning, the F430 GT2 of Brain Lavio and Alan Sicart (RSV Motorsport) crossed the line second in class right behind the Drivex School Porsche and ahead of the Ferrari driven by Alvaro Fontes and Jesus Diez Villarroel (Jesus Diez Villarroel.) In the second leg, the podium was an all-Ferrari affair thanks to a win for Celso Miguez and Hugo Godinho (Aurora Energy D) who won the event outright, followed by the duo of Alvaro Fontes and Jesus Diez Villarroel (Jesus Diez Villarroel) and Brain Lavio and Alan Sicart, also in F430 GT2 cars.

The Spanish series will be back in action for round 2 over the weekend of 29 May at the Jarama circuit.

Spanish GT – Ferrari fantastic in Estoril
Source: Ferrari

Maranello, 17 July – Ferraris were in action this weekend at the fourth round of the Spanish GT Championship, as Portugal’s Estoril circuit staged a two hour and ten minute race. The win went to Portuguese brothers, Miguel and Joao Ramos, their first of the season with the Edil Cris 458 Italia GT2. They also set the fastest lap in 1.42.174.

The Ramos duo took the lead right from the opening lap, making the most of a poor start from the Aurora Racing Team F430 GTC which had been on pole, going on to finish third, consolidating its lead in the championship.

Miguel Ramos, a very experienced GT driver who was champion in 2002, was the real force of the race, along with his brother, crossing the line with around 20 seconds in hand over his rivals. Ferrari also won the GT Light category, with the Baporo Motorsport 430 Challenge, driven by Pol Rosell and Miguel Toril.

The Spanish GT championship now faces a long summer break before returning for more action at Portimao on 18 September, alongside the sixth round of the GT Open championship.

Spanish GT - Ferrari on the podium in both races at Jerez
Source: Ferrari

Maranello, 16 October - Jerez de la Frontera hosted the fifth and penultimate round of the Spanish GT championship this weekend. Both legs were won by the Porsche of Miguel de Castro - Manuel Giao who thus lead the general classification. Right behind it in both legs was the extremely competitive F430 GTC: in race 1, the silver medal position went to the Ferrari of Brian Lavio - Alan Sicart (RSV Motorsport) while in third place was the crew made up of Alvaro Fontes-Jesus Diez Villaroel (Team Villaroel.) The result of race 2 was equally good with the second step of the podium occupied by the F430 GTC of Celso Miguez-Hugo Godhino (Aurora Energy Drink) that finished ahead of the Ferrari of Brain Lavio and Alan Sicart (RSV Motorsport.) The final round of the Spanish GT championship takes place at the Catalunya circuit near Barcelona in two weeks time.
